Dennis Frank
Chairman of the Board
Mr. Frank has been Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Silvergate Capital Corporation since November 1996. He served as Chief Executive Officer of the Bank from that time until July 2007. Mr. Frank is also President of DSF Management Corporation, Houston, Texas, a private investment company. From 1988 to 1993, Mr. Frank was a Managing Director and major shareholder of Coastal Banc ssb, Houston, Texas. During this period, Coastal Banc acquired several insolvent savings and loans from the FSLIC. He served as director of Coastal Banc, a $2.5 Billion publicly traded institution, from 1988 until its sale to Hibernia Bancorp in May of 2004. From 1980 through 1987, Mr. Frank was a Vice President of Goldman, Sachs & Co., New York City, New York. He has a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from New York University.
Derek Eisele
Vice-Chairman of the Board \ Executive Vice President
Since the recapitalization of Silvergate Bank in 1996, Mr. Eisele has served as a Managing Director of the Bank and its parent company Silvergate Capital Corp. Mr. Eisele holds the position of Vice Chairman of both organizations and is Executive Vice President of the Bank. Mr. Eisele was also an active partner in DSF Management Corporation, a real estate investment and management company, from 1994-2000. Mr. Eisele and his partner, Dennis Frank, invested $94MM in various real estate transactions and controlled approximately $250MM in assets during a six year period. They generated an internal rate of return in excess of 27% on their investments. From November 1989 to April 1994, Mr. Eisele was a Vice President of Coastal Realty Partners, Houston, Texas, a wholly owned subsidiary of Coastal Banc ssb. Mr. Eisele was responsible for managing and disposing of real estate and real estate related assets on behalf of governmental agencies and private investors. Mr. Eisele oversaw asset resolutions from over 100 failed financial institutions through contract work for the FDIC, RTC, and Federal and Savings Loan Insurance Corporation. In aggregate, Mr. Eisele's asset management experience exceeds $1 billion, including performing, sub performing, and nonperforming loans as well as REO properties. Mr. Eisele has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Delaware. Mr. Eisele is also a graduate of the American Banker's Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Pennsylvania.
Alan Lane
President and Chief Executive Officer
Alan J. Lane was elected as Director and President of Silvergate Capital Corporation and as Director, President and Chief Executive Officer of Silvergate Bank in December 2008. Mr. Lane has over 25 years of corporate and financial institution leadership experience. He formerly held the positions of Executive Chairman of Belvedere SoCal; Director, President and Chief Operating Officer of Southwest Community Bancorp a $650 million company; Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Financial Data Solutions, Inc.; and President and Chief Executive Officer of Business Bank of California, a $700 million commercial bank with fifteen branches in northern and southern California. Mr. Lane is a member of the Board of Trustees of John Paul the Great Catholic University. He earned his BA in Economics from San Diego State University.
Robert Campbell
Principal, Hendron Holding Corporation
In 1986, Robert C. Campbell participated in the buyout of Charterhouse Canada Limited which was the Canadian subsidiary of Charterhouse U.K. (renamed Hendron Holding Corporation at that time). Hendron Holding Corporation, which is now controlled by Mr. Campbell, is a merchant bank/investment holding company which utilizes its own funds to invest in and finance a wide range of businesses and real estate holdings. The firm has been in operation in Canada for over 40 years as a merchant bank/venture capital firm primarily involved in acquiring equity positions in private companies. Mr. Campbell holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from York University as well as a law degree from Osgood Hall Law School and practiced corporate commercial law in Toronto for 10 years until 1986.
Thomas Dircks
Managing Partner, Charterhouse Group, Inc.
Thomas C. Dircks is the Managing Partner of Charterhouse Group, Inc., a New York-based private equity investment firm that actively acquires and manages middle-market companies. Mr. Dircks served as President of Charterhouse from June 2001 until October 2002 and Executive Vice President from July 2000 until June 2001. Mr. Dircks has been employed as an executive officer of the Firm since 1983. He was previously employed as a Certified Public Accountant at a predecessor of PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP. He holds a B.S. in Accounting and an M.B.A. from Fordham University. Mr. Dircks is a member of the Board of Directors of the following companies: Amerifit Brands, Inc., NewPath Networks, Inc., Cequel III, LLC., Cross Country, Inc., The Camelot Schools and Upstream Rehabilitation, Inc.
John Eudy
Executive Vice President, Essex Property Trust
John D. Eudy is a co-founder of Essex Property Trust, Inc.; an NYSE listed Real Estate Investment Trust. He joined Essex's predecessor, Essex Property Trust in 1985. His day-to-day responsibilities are to run development activities of the firm, from the point of acquisition, through construction and stabilization. During his 17-year career at Essex he has developed over 8,000 units of multi-family housing, and has been recognized as an industry leader in his field. Essex Property Trust specializes in multi-family housing on the West Coast, and has received numerous building association awards for excellence. The company through its development program has been recognized nationally as a forerunner in multi-family development. While at Essex, Mr. Eudy has been responsible for numerous activities including arranging of financing, due diligence, asset management and asset disposition. Prior to joining Essex, Mr. Eudy was a Vice President in the Commercial Real Estate Investment Group of Crocker National Bank from 1980 to 1985 and Home Federal Savings from 1977 to 1980. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from San Diego State University in 1977 and is a graduate of the University of Southern California's Management Leadership School. Mr. Eudy is a member of the Urban Land Institute, National Association of Home Builders and National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts.
Michael Herrick
Senior Counsel, Elias, Matz, Tiernan & Herrick
William Michael Herrick began his professional career as a financial analyst and examiner at the Federal Home Loan Bank Board (now the Office of Thrift Supervision). He subsequently became a lawyer for that agency and for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Administrator of National Banks. Since 1981 Mr. Herrick has been an Associate, Partner and Senior Partner with the law firm of Elias, Matz, Tiernan & Herrick, Washington D.C., a corporate law firm specializing in banks and other financial institutions. From 1997 to Present he has been Senior Counsel to Elias, Matz, Tiernan & Herrick. Mr. Herrick holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Delaware and a Juris Doctorate from American University Washington College of Law.
William Roy
Director of Research, Jacobs Asset Management
Mr. Roy is Director of Research of Jacobs Asset Management, a New York based financial services investment fund manager whose managing general partner is Sy Jacobs. In February of 2002, Mr. Roy joined Merrill Lynch as an equities research analyst responsible for covering the mortgage finance and thrift industries. Mr. Roy has fifteen years of experience working as a financial services analyst and portfolio manager for TCW and Arco Investment Management. Mr. Roy holds a Bachelor of Science degree from California Polytechnic University, Pomona, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a member of both the Los Angeles Association of Financial Securities Analysts and the Association of Investment Management and Research.
